SHANGHAI,CHINA, April 22, 2010 – Magna Powertrain, an operating unit of Magna International, arrives at Auto China 2010 at a time of rapid expansion for its China operations.  The size of its Changzhou plant has significantly increased and the number of employees has tripled. In line with its growth strategy, Magna Powertrain plans to double the number of local engineers in order to focus on innovation and implement more individual projects.

Magna Powertrain already has a strong presence in the China market with its plant in Changzhou established in 2005, and the company is now pursuing a growth strategy that is showing results in the latest sales figures. Increased local engineering and production, a product portfolio focused on innovation, and programs for new Chinese customers continue to be at the forefront of driving growth in the country.

Growth through building up know-how & customer orientation
Employees play an important role in the future growth of Magna Powertrain China. The multicultural engineering team is being doubled in order to better fulfill the demands of Chinese customers as well as to provide support during early development phases. The desire from the customer for the development of complete driveline solutions can be implemented by means of this expansion.

Innovation is key to success
Magna Powertrain has positioned itself as a highly competent partner in the China market, particularly in the areas of engine oil pumps, mass balancing systems and transfer cases. Innovative products are the greatest factor of success for Magna Powertrain. In tune with rising environmental demands, Magna Powertrain is focusing its R&D efforts on electronically controlled technologies in order to improve capabilities and reduce CO2 emissions. Innovative technologies for hybrid and electric vehicles considerably increase the portfolio’s value to the customer.
